How to play
Name That Tune is the retro-game-show music quiz. Race your friends to guess the song from a 30-second clip — the faster you type the title and artist, the bigger the score.
The format
A round, beat by beat
1. The host presses play
Everyone hears the same 30-second clip in perfect sync. The title and artist sit hidden, with a few letters peeking through.
2. Type your guess
More letters peel back as the clip plays. Race to type the song title and the artist — they score as two separate fields.
3. Speed wins
The very first person to nail a field grabs the full 200 points. Everyone after that scores on a sliding scale — the longer you take, the fewer points are left.
4. The big reveal
The clip ends, the track is unveiled, and the board updates. Then it's on to the next song until the playlist runs out.
Keeping score
How points work
- First to a field wins big — the first player to nail the title (or the artist) scores the full 200 points for it.
- Everyone else races the clock — later solves decay as the clip plays, down to a floor of 40 points. Slow but right still beats wrong.
- Two fields, two payouts — title and artist score independently, so solving both in a round doubles your take.
- Highest total wins — points stack across every song. Whoever tops the leaderboard when the playlist ends takes the crown.

Guess title and artist separately — you bank points for each, so fire off both the moment you've got them.
Even if you're not first, speed still pays. A slow guess is worth a minimum of 40 points; a fast one can be worth far more.
Watch the letters peel back. If you're stuck, the revealed positions are a free hint that grows every second.
Close counts as wrong, but typos are forgiven — minor misspellings still land, so don't overthink the spelling.
