How to Play

One letter. One minute. No repeats.

A Scattergories-style race: a random letter, a fistful of categories, and ninety frantic seconds. Fill them all with words that start with the letter — but the obvious answer is a trap. Duplicates cancel to zero.

2–16 players · 6 rounds · 6 categories a round

A round, slot by slot

1. The letter drops

Each round flips a single random letter (the awkward ones — X, Z, Q, J — barely ever show) plus a fresh list of six categories like “a fruit” or “a film”.

2. Fill the sheet

You get about ninety seconds to write an answer for every category — each one has to START WITH the round's letter. Lock your sheet early if you finish ahead.

3. Sheets reveal at once

Time's up, everyone's sheet flips over together. Any answer that's blank or doesn't start with the letter is struck out on the spot.

4. Challenge the dodgy ones

Reckon “a sloth” isn't a job? Flag it and the room takes a quick majority vote. Lose the vote and the answer gets struck.

Scoring

  • +1A unique answer scores. Every valid answer nobody else wrote banks one point.
  • 0Duplicates cancel. Within a category, identical answers across players all drop to zero — so the obvious word is a trap.
  • struckInvalid or challenged. Blanks, wrong-letter answers, and answers struck by a lost challenge vote score nothing.

Scores carry across all six rounds — highest cumulative total takes the final standings.

Tips for a big score

Skip the obvious answer — everyone reaches for it, so it cancels to zero. The weird-but-valid word is the one that banks the point.

A filled-in guess beats a blank. Even a long-shot answer can survive if nobody challenges it.

Spread your time. Six categories, ninety seconds — don't burn it all hunting one perfect word.

Watch the reveal closely. A well-aimed challenge can knock out a rival's point.
