On Air

How to Play

Say it · Without saying it

Typed Taboo against the clock. Get the room to say the secret word — but the obvious clues are banned, so you'll have to talk your way around them before time runs out.

3–16 players · Quick describe rounds

A round, feed by feed

CH 01

1. You get the word

Each round one player is the giver. They alone see the secret target word — and a banlist of the most obvious clues for it.

CH 02

2. Type your clues

The giver types hints to steer the room toward the word. Talk around it: synonyms, stories, anything that isn't on the banlist.

CH 03

3. Banned words get bleeped

Use the target word or anything on the banlist and the clue is BLOCKED on air — it never reaches the room, and the slip costs you.

CH 04

4. The room guesses

Everyone else races to type the answer. First correct guess locks the word in and the round ends.

Scoring
  • Land the word — both the giver and the guesser who nailed it score. The faster it lands, the better.
  • Run out of time — no points for the word. The room never said it.
  • Get blocked — forbidden clues never air, so a sloppy giver bleeds the clock for nothing.

Control-room tips

Lead with the strongest angle the banlist forgot — the obvious words are gone, so go sideways.

Short, fast clues beat one perfect sentence. Every second the room isn't guessing is a second lost.

As a guesser, throw out near-misses — they nudge the giver toward a clue that lands.

Watch the banlist in your head before you hit send. A blocked clue stings more than a slow one.
